Tidewater Team
Tidewater Alliance is a Norfolk‑based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring Virginia’s Tidewater coastal waters, marshes, and oyster reefs. Through volunteer shoreline cleanups, native oyster reef reconstruction, and a citizen‑science water‑watch program, the organization filters pollutants, supports marine life, and builds living shorelines that buffer erosion. Operating from its Granby Street boathouse, Tidewater Alliance engages local volunteers, schools, and partners such as the Virginia Institute of Marine Science to monitor water quality and remove debris across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Portsmouth. Since 2021 the group has planted over 3.1 million native oysters, removed more than 218 tons of trash, and maintains dozens of volunteer water‑monitoring stations, turning data into open resources for the region.
